Hi guys!
My name is Cara McQuillan and I am a junior midfielder! We have finally made it to the season that we all have been waiting for….. MAAC’s!
On Saturday, March 26 we opened up over first MAAC conference game against Monmouth University. The team showed a lot of fight and hustle but Monmouth was able to come out with the 16-15 victory. The scoring of the game came from a multiple Siena players. Senior captain Lauren Smith and sophomore attacker Lauren Anglim both contributed a hat trick for the Saints. Juniors Brianna Sirianni and Michelle Schwartz and senior Captain Sarah Croutier each added 3 points for the Saints two goals and an assist. Senior Captain Sarah Croutier also had a huge milestone game by scoring her 100th career goal, becoming just the fifth player in program history to do so, and picked up her 100th career groundball. Congrats Sarah! Keep up the good work! We also had some help between the pipes from senior Ashley Holdridge who made 8 saves to keep us in the game. Although this game did not come out the way we would like we were able to learn some valuable things that is going to make us better for our next game. This game also marked our annual Senior Game. We recognized our 8 seniors (Lauren Smith, Sarah Croutier, Morgan Gallagher, Ashley Ruchalski, Liz Stutzman, Ashley Holdridge, Kate Callahan, and Andi Elwell) for all their hard work and dedication to this program for four years. After the game the players were able to spend some good time home with their families for the Easter holiday.
After a short break we got back to work in practice to prepare for our second MAAC game against Manhattan. We have been focusing on both sides of the field both the offense and defense perfecting every aspect we can. In practice we have really put on our thinking caps to learn new plays and challenging ourselves to be the best we can be each day. After watching film we are realizing our mistakes we are adjusting ourselves in order to make the changes we need to put ourselves in a better position to win. Every day we must get better in order for us to reach our goals. Everyone is really excited to take on Manhattan and show them who Siena W Lax really is.
We hope to see some of you guys at our upcoming games! Thank you fans for your continuous support!
